Going on a camping trip for more than a few weeks requires that you have the right gear. As seen on many adventure sites and blogs, and youtube channels, a lot is high quality and also some is sponsored. True, good gear is making a trip easy or very tuff.
I have choosen my gear on affordability and comfort. I have to make every cent count. Also have i made some expensive investments because simply i like the product, it is going to last a long time (i hope) or i have seen multiple good reviews. On the other hand, the locations where i am going to travel should a repair shop nearby, so i am not bringing a lot of tools with me.
I have enough room to place my stuff. Each Pannier on my bike can hold up to 33 liters of bagage, my top case can hold 28 liters, the tankbag 15 liters and the Drybag 60 liters. With the kriega backpack of 9 liters (minus de 4 liters of water) the total storage is 174 liters. That should be enough. The Tent is stored on top of the drybag, so does not adds to the total.

Camping Gear
The SHOEI NeoTec 2 is my system helmet. I have added the SENA SRL Bluetooth communication set to it, together with the same helmet for my wife. The only downfall is when you have strapped the camera to the chin, opening the helmet is a thing. I ordered a Dango Design clip for that, see below.
The Rev’IT! Dominator 3 Gore-Tex Jacket is just the Ferrari under the jackets and when the oppertunity arose, i went for it. A great jacket.
The Rev’IT! Dominator 3 Gore-Tex is choosen as trousers. I needed a new suit completly so this was a good choise to keep me warm and dry. Also see the reviews on YouTube.
My Rev’IT! Discovery H2O Black / Black (44) are incoming in the after sale. This is the 2018 model that is being replaced by a Gore-Tex (GTX) model in 2022. I found one of the last ones in Spain for a large discount. I took one size larger as they fall a little shorter.
Rev’IT! Summit 2 H2O. This is my main season glove. It protects me very well, keeps me warm and is very flexible in wear. De gloves comes easy on and off, and operating my mobile phone works very well. I have these now 3+ years.
The Rev’IT! Arid 9L H2O is a Krieg backback updated for Rev’IT!. This backpack gives a light and good fit, and can also hold a water bottle, up to 3.75 liters. I need for my diet program drink 2.5 liters a day. And while riding this means a lot of stops. This bag and system allows me to continue riding.
This Kriega Hydrapak allows me drink and continue to drive. Very handy while driving long distances. On a holiday to get to your destination, of during an Iron Butt ride.
The Mototent from lonerider is going to be my main tent. I love al the features and ease of use of this tent. I am for now unaware where i am going to end up on my trips, but even without have my bike IN the tent, the spacious room in the tent feels as a great luxury. It is overpriced, but i allow myself this one expensive item. It is bought with a awning kit and groundsheet
The sleeping bag is one i currently own. I have 3 sleepingbags, with different temperature ranges from winter to summer. It is important to understand the labeling on a sleeping bag.
The Exped SynMat 9 LW has a thickness of 9 cm and extra isolation so even the coldest nights (-20 C) are very comfortable. It is lightweight with only 1100 grams.
The Cocoon UltraLight Air-Core is a very small and lightweight pillow of only 105 grams. When inflated you have a pillow of 33x43x33 cm. It comes with a pouch.
This folding windshield in a convenient box protects it from damaging, and keeps the wind away from your cooker.
The cooker can be screwed on a gas tank and is foldable. It has a starter and easy regulator of gas. It comes with a plastic holding box so it is not likely to damage in the luggage.
This Alomejor Gas Tank Bracket is used among a lot of campers. It stabilizes the gas tank.
This cooking set is also used a lot around bikers, it is a complete set, foldable into a small package of 450 grams and has all you need on your trip. As a plate i bring my BBQ plastic plate with 3 sections with me.
Trying out this folding cup. Only 8 dollars. I have seen cups that cost almost 30 dollars. Let’s see how i like this one.
This is a water bag, which i can use to wash clothes, do the dishes, carry water from a stream for tea or boiling water.
This multitool i like because it has pliers and a hammer. It was low cost.
This lightweight table i found seems to be able to do the job. It packs small.
This is a very small camping chair. Packs really small and only weights 1 kilogram. It can hold up to 110kg, and at the time i was heavier than that and worked just fine.
Curious what this lamp will bring. It is solar powered, i can hang it in the tent, charge my phone and so on, for a very low price.
Very handy LED headlight in the tent or when to need to go the bathroom at night.
This microfiber towel is very compact and dry’s whitin the hour. When needed, just place it on the bike and the riding wind will dry it. Also the dirt will not keep on the towel, which makes it very affective during a week of more trip.
Motor Gear
Faduies Fog Lights for BMW. These aluminium cost only a fraction of the original BMW or Wunderlicht lights and work very well on the CanBus with the HEX EZCan 4 chanel manager. I mounted these on GIVI mounting Brackets LS5113.
HEX Ezcan canbus manager for BMW. With your laptop you can add multiple add-ons to the electrical system of your BMW. Then configure how to operate with the normal steering wheel controls. Make sure to get the 2020 or later version, because on earlier models de epoxy is of lower quality.
Grip Puppies lower the amount of vibrations so your hands are not num after a long trip of riding. These were a few dollars and with a little soap easy to add to the handle bars. Be careful when you have heated grips not to damage those when you use tools.
Voltmeter. Very handy to see the state of the battery before starting or while driving. The on board computer can also show me, but i like this more because i am not depended on the computer this way.
I use my mobile phone on my bike. I have no troubles with a malfunctioning GPS in my phone, so i like this one specific for my bike. It snaps on and off very easy. Also charges my phone and the camara on the nose if the bike.
Givi Tankbag 15 Liter with Tanklock system. This is a small bag, which will hold the basic electronics, batteries, passpoort, keys and so on. It snaps easy to the tankring and comes off. Also with a shoulder strap to carry it around. One downsite is that is hits the horn when steering to the maximum on the left hand. But that only leads to turned heads so not so much worries there.
This 60 Liter DryBag is a real lifesaver from Rock Biker. It contains al my camping gear and straps on the passenger buddy seat with the attached spring hooks. I bought this one for 32 dollars in china.
The Michelin Road 5 tyres are the best fit for my BMW R1200 RTW/RT LC with my riding style. They last a long time and are good priced.
Camera’s
My first action camera, The Drift Ghost X. This one has a stabilization system, but not as good as the GoPro. I mount this one on the nose of the bike and use it for ongoing, low res video capture. I have 256 GB SDcards to use with the camera’s.
GoPro Hero 8. I choose this because it gives a lot of features for a good second hand price. When camera enthousiasts go to the GoPro Hero 9 or 10, they sell the 7 or 8. I got a sweet deal on this second hand one.
The Dango Design Gripper Mount will allow me to quickly remove the camera and opening my system helmet. This system is very powerfull and i can attach the microphone on the inside of the mount in one system. Stock is extremly low and shipping from the US takes up to a month almost. So order in time when in Europe.
